Surely these things are very rare? I can't remember the last time I've seen one outside of a hotel. I've never actually used one ever. Rendered redundant by quilted paper?

And yes we do have the bidet facility but I consider that as the females domain for correct gusset maintenance rather than an anal jet wash for us blokes

Erm, yes, we have one in the main bathroom, and wouldn't be without it. Some say they're a waste of time and space, but we always miss it when we stay elsewhere.

One of the things I miss when I come back from Thailand is the thumb operated hose next to the toilet. Paper seems so primitive after. I saw them in Vietnam as well. But for some reason, they were on the left and left hand arse blasting seemed weird.

They're pretty unhygienic which is why they love them in Europe.
If you shit more than once a day you have problems, that's a definite issue. Plus it must be quite inconvenient.
